Introduction and collaboration announcement
We are thrilled to announce the official kickoff of the ZonMw Doelmatigheids research project, a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders through technology. This collaborative venture brings together Sol, Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), NiceDay, Depressie Vereniging, Angst Dwang en Fobie stichting, Synaeda, MiSi NeuroPsy, and Stichting VALK, each contributing their unique expertise to explore the potential of personalized, data-supported treatments.
Project aims and methodology
The core objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of the NiceDay treatment app compared to conventional, on-location therapies devoid of e-health interventions. Through a randomized controlled trial, we aim to not only assess the overall impact of the NiceDay app but also to dissect which specific treatment elements lead to positive patient outcomes. Additionally, the study seeks to capture the experiences of clients engaged in this novel treatment modality, providing insights into personalized care effectiveness.
Study design and participant details
Study Duration: Approximately four years.
Participant Recruitment: The project targets the recruitment of 300 patients, who will be followed for 12 months post-treatment commencement.
Treatment Sites: The research will be conducted across four clinical treatment centers in the Netherlands—Synaeda, MiSi NeuroPsy, Stichting VALK, and SOL—each playing a critical role in facilitating the study.
Study design and participant details
The initial 12 months are dedicated to preparatory activities, laying the groundwork for a comprehensive investigation. This project promises to shed light on the potential benefits of integrating e-health solutions like the NiceDay app into treatment protocols, potentially revolutionizing how anxiety and mood disorders are managed. By analyzing treatment effectiveness and individual patient responses, the study aspires to answer the pressing question of “what works for whom” in the realm of digital health interventions.
This streamlined approach provides a concise yet comprehensive overview of the research project, focusing on its objectives, methodology, and the collaborative effort driving its execution.
